Those Summer Doldrums

I guess that is the word for it. I have not had the urge to knit for the last week or so.
I don't really know why. Maybe the heat -- but I am inside mostly.

I have been trying to figure out what to do with the lovely Aran yarn from Ireland.
So I have been thinking knitting. Just not doing any.

Tonight I am making myself knit. That way I get over these doldrums.

I am reading some too, so that is taking up my free time.

Keeping Busy

Spend yesterday late afternoon and evening with these 2 cuties. Mallory and Layne. They are the kids of my coworker. She and her husband went to a concert.

The baby is almost 4 mos and she was easy and fun. Layne is 2 and man I have forgotten how talkative a 2 year old is. She kept my girls hopping. She loved being outside. She is a good kid. I kept them up a bit late -- so I hope they slept well last night for their mom and dad.

So as you can tell there was no knitting going on -- and this proves why I never learned to knit when my hands were busy with little kids!

Still

Knee deep in berries.
Or at least that is how I feel.
Yesterday I took the car to the shop and was then trapped at home - so I made 24 blueberry muffins (some are in the freezer now).
And I made a blueberry buckle (read coffeecake) - YUM!

These are the pretty berries on the vine - even a few blooms still to turn to berries.
I ran out of flour (even after raiding the neighbor's kitchen).
Today I will make a couple pies - one for the neighbors mentioned above.

I tell the kids they have to eat 1/2 a pound a day to help me out.
Hopefully, I will have some finished knitting to show off - depends on
how stressed I am over all these blueberries.

BERRY Fun

We spent the weekend with family up north and in the process picked lots and lots of blueberries.

As you can see Rob trying to feed Noelle a fresh berry!

Here is Brooke picking her share of the lovely fruit.

My little neice is starting to try to crawl and is just full of smiles.

Doesn't she look like her big brother?

Lovely family weekend - now to spend tomorrow making lots of blueberry items.

Anyone got any great blueberry recipes?

One of Those Weeks

Things have been busy here all week. The youngest is working at VBS at our church everyday. Then the oldest is working at it just some days. Plus my son has his volunteer job 2 days this week and I am working somewhere mixed in these times. So lots of getting people here there and everywhere.

Then yesterday I did not feel well right before work - finally got feeling well enough to make my shift - but I was a bit late. After working I had to hurry home to get Brooke and our half dog and get them to the county 4-H fair for dog obedience.
They did pretty good. This is their 5 year doing this (not to mention that little sis did it last year with the dog due to the big trip Brooke took) - so the dog is a 6 year pro.
And we are sad to realize that this is probably the last year -- at least for the girl --she is just too busy with band and high school stuff. And hopefully a job next year (this is mom's goal anyway).

Our summer has kicked into full gear and I will wonder what happened when it is over that is for sure.

A Good Day

We had free tickets to see the local minor league team play today. It was a lovely day outside -- not so humid as it normally can be this time of year. Here is our home team scoring the winning run.

Once the shade started to reach us I broke out the knitting! So family time in the sunshine, a win, and some knitting. What could be better.

Well Traveled Yarn

Knitting content on my Knit blog - go figure!
Here is some lovely Irish yarn that was bought for me in Ireland. It is 100% Wool Aran!!

Now to figure out what to knit out of it. I am thinking a nice lap blanket -- I think there is enough for that.

My son was going to get it for me - but his leader (who we gave rides to and from the airport) said she would get it for me as a Thank You ~ what a nice thank you.

So Joe decided to get me a great zip up cardigan with a hood. It is super warm. I will take a picture of me in it when I am showered.

So there ya go - yarn on my knitting blog for a change.

It is nice to have my boy home -but he loved his UK trip ~ or we think so by all the stories he is sharing with us.

Keeping Busy - Sorry no Knitting

We spent a lovely evening with friends and this was the view from their back patio!
Lots of exploding fireworks for celebrating the 4th.

Then last night a friend won the use of a suite to see the Indiana Fever (WNBA) play. So the girls invited some friends and we ate and watched a good Fever victory. The view is wonderful and a good time was had by all. The older gentleman below - Art won the suite. We all had a nice time chatting and watching the game.
Tomorrow my boy gets home!

Not My Best Picture - But My Only

This was the one picture I got that has Brooke marching. She is the short one towards the right of the picture. She has the reddish hair.

I know it is fussy and has most kids heads chopped off -- but I was excited. And it was just starting to rain. But I am confident enough to show you my horrible picture because I am proud of my girl and my country as we celebrate July 4th!

The rain picked up the more they marched (if they had been earlier in the parade -- it was pretty big- they probably would have marched in not much rain at all.
I bet when we pick her up she is not to thrilled with marching in the rain.

I can hear you saying Awwwww...

This is our new little rabbit. She is nameless til my son gets home and can put in his 2 cents. I need to get a picture that shows you her size - she is small - I can hold her in my 2 hands cupped together. She is black with brown eyes and is a curious little one. She is sweet and does not nip or eat stuff. At least so far.
Joe will be surprised! But she was a bargain!

More Doings

Today some members of the HS band played at the Grand Opening of the Dunkin Donuts!
Here is my girl blowing her horn.
And as the picture shows the weather was beautiful - not too hot- really nice. They got a free donut when they were done!
